Useful Spanish words
fontanero/a = plumber · avería = fault · fuga = leak · desatasco = unblocking · caldera = boiler · calentador = water heater · aire acondicionado = air conditioning.
Keep messages short. Many trades reply in Spanish even if you start in English.
SMS / WhatsApp template
«Buenos días. Soy [name], vivo en [street/postcode]. Tengo [leak / no hot water / blocked sink]. ¿Puede pasar hoy o mañana? ¿La visita incluye desplazamiento? Gracias.»
Attach a photo of the meter area or stain. Do not share bank details in chat.
On the phone
Ask: hourly rate or fixed visit fee, whether VAT (IVA) is included, and if they issue factura with their NIF.
For gas or boiler work, ask if they are autorizado under RITE and can leave the mandatory paperwork.
